Does putting dog clothes on chiahuahuas hurt them?

Author: My short haired chiahuahua can walk in her shoes and clothes but chooses not to…she doesn’t move almost at all when I put the clothes on her, and she refuses to do anything with them on and does nothing but wimper! What can I do to make her like clothes?

shoes seem a silly thing to have a dog wear (and cruel)
however, I think that smaller, short haired dogs, like chihuahuas, should wear coats to help them keep warm
Not at all, they actually like clothing if its cold were you live, it even says they appreciate clothes/sweaters in Chihuahua books.

First of all i think those clothes are tight or she feels uncomfortable.
Why do you want her to like some thing YOU like NOT her. That is WRONG if they like it go ahead and put it ON but is she doesn’t get it OFF HER. maybe try another size or don’t put it on her they willl look the same.
What type of clothes do you put on her? My dog (not a chiahuahua, but still small) won’t wear anything that goes over her head, she hates it! But she does wear the jackets that the velcro straps so it goes on around the neck. She just gets too uncomfortable when the clothing has to go over her head to be put on. Also make sure the whole outfit is the right size. Some things that I have tried on Maddy (my dog) are too tight on the arms, even though they are great everywhere else, so she hates them. You could also try it without the shoes, Maddy can’t stand them, and never wears them.
But as long as it is the right size it doesn’t hurt them, it just sounds like your dog doesn’t like them. You could try praising and giving her treats as you put the clothes on her and while she is wearing it so that she sees it as a positive experience, but if she really doesn’t like it, maybe you should stop dressing her up.
If you wanted something to dress up, they have cabagge patch kids down at Kmart they are a lot cheaper and dont poop as much.
Dogs arnt ment to wear clothing, thats what their fur is for. Dogs with short hair are naturally from an area that is warmer. So these dogs are now in places like Minnesota and freeze, there is where a coat is acceptable.
Your dog just doesnt like it. I dont blame her.
If you must put clothes on her and nothing that we will say will change your mind, go for lose fitting aticles, like shirts or bandanas, give her treats and tell her she is good. Dont put shoes on until she has mastered wearing simple things.
and yes, it hurts their ego.
Dogs aren’t supposed to be wearing clothes. They may not hurt your dog but your dog does not have to like them. First off if you are putting clothes on her and she is pulling away you have got a lot of work to do. You need to coax her into them until she does it by her self. (not literally just so she isn’t afraid of it) But again dogs don’t wear clothes if she doesn’t like them that much you shouldn’t be putting them on your dog.

As long as its not tight your dog shouldn’t care. But coax her into it, don’t force her to like them. Chiahuahuas are meant to be clothed like dolls imo, but you probably need better clothes.
