Dogs are as much a part of our family as anyone else and as such shouldn’t we feed them properly to? Feeding your pets healthy food can help them live longer healthier lives. But what do you feed them, there are so many kinds of dry dog foods out there as well as raw diets to consider. Here I explain what I feed my own pets, a mix of dry dog food and raw dog food. I did my own research to find what healthy dog food really was and as such I want to impart some information on to you. Orijen (not a typo www.orijen.ca ) dog food I find to be the best dog food I could find in dry or kibble form since it doesn’t contain grain which dogs cant digest. As well Raw dog food is a more natural way to feed your pet. Side note, raw food and raw bones help develop the muscles in their neck and shoulders from the extra jaw movement. As with people, healthy food, healthy dog.

Orijen is awesome!
But dogs are omnivores…they do eat some berries and grass sometimes. Also sometimes grain in the stomachs of deers, rabbits, etc.
But I do agree, grain free is good there is still potato for carbs.
typically the time they would eat berries or grass is when they feel a lacking in some area of their diet. They’re really meant to get their carbs and vegetable/fruit intake from their prey. they still have the jagged teeth of carnivores and they still have the short and highly acidic digestive system of a carnivore.
No dogs don’t need carbs to be healthy. No they are not omnivores. If they did they would have molars in the back of their mouth like bears do.
heard its too high on protein (specially for big dogs like Bernese and Newfoundlands) so vet told me to change…apparently the risk of liver disease is much higher with orijen or another high protein food.
Bull shit. high protein is fine if it’s quality protein. don’t feed high protein to growing pup though this could cause bone issues
dogs are not omnivores, and potatoes are the only bad part of grain free, well along with berrys and peas. carbs should be kept at 0 in canine diets.
but potatoes are used for binders in quality foods. i have been feeding canidae ALS with grains, but today i started my dogs transition to canidae grain free.
